IGC seeks to engage Project/ Development Worker

The Institute of Guidance Counsellors is the professional body representing 1,300 Guidance Counsellors  who work in  Second and Third level  education as well as in  the Adult guidance sector.
The project  worker will work closely with the IGC President and the National Executive to help the IGC achieve its aims.

Job summary
This is a part time fixed term (12 month) post, working as part of our
successful office team.
The Project worker will support the work of the IGC national executive particularly with the development of policy.
The person will action and realise some of the projects of the current executive.


Key Tasks and Activities
Working closely with the president and executive
You will:
• Undertake  a major research project
• devise a programme of work (with the objectives of the executive)that is measurable and achievable
• report this work to the executive at its monthly meeting in the form of a written report and when necessary to present to the meeting
• Measure and monitor progress of regular activities of IGC
• Support the executive to put their planning into action.
• Support the IGC  as it develops and seeks to liaise with other groups
• identify practical solutions to challenges that may arise
• contribute to operational planning and policy development.


The ideal candidate should have:
• Experience of working in the Psychological / Human sciences  sector
• A relevant professional qualification
• Experience of providing support and information to individuals or groups desirable
• Experience of working with a diverse range of people
• Experience of research, report writing, interpretation & presentation of data essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Essential requirements:
A robust approach to monitoring and evaluation
Respectful of confidential information
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to manage a complex workload and to work on own initiative without
supervision and as part of a small dedicated team.


Desirable:
Research experience
Experience and a good working knowledge of the guidance sector
Familarity with the Guidance/ Education/ Counselling/ Employment sector
Knowledge of the Irish education and work sector
