Arduna Counselling & Psychotherapy Centre

Adolescent and child guidance service which includes educational and psychological assessments
and follow up counselling or psychotherapy if required.


CDVEC Psychological Service

A Chief Psychologist and ten psychologists deliver a service that aims to offer students and trainees in CDVEC schools support and assistance with their emotional, educational and vocational needs.


Child & Family Psychiatry Mater Hospital
A multidisciplinary unit, which endeavours to work with children, adolescents and their families in the promotion and treatment of mental health. The core disciplines within the Clinic are Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Speech and Language Therapy.

Child Protection Services Dublin North West

Child Protection Services work to promote positive and enduring change in the lives of children and families by providing caring services for children and families. Services range from Family Support Services, which include prevention and early intervention initiatiaves, to targeted services which respond to children who have been harmed or have not received adequate care.


Claidhe Mor Family Centre
A therapeutic support and assessment service for children and families residing in Community Care
Areas 7 and 8.


Garda Juvenile Liaison Officer

The Garda Juvenile Diversion Programme aims to divert young people away from crime by offering guidance and support to young people and their families. The liaison officer often works with transition year students in crime awareness programmes. In the more serious cases, juveniles are placed under the supervision of Garda Juvenile Liaison Officers.


Harmonstown Youthreach Centre

The Centre aims to develop core skills needed for further training and to prepare young people to progress to further education, training or employment. FETAC certification courses are offered and guidance and counselling services are provided. There is also a young mothers group in the Centre.


NEPS (National Educational Psychological Service)
NEPS psychologists specialise in working with the school community. They work in partnership with teachers, parents and children in identifying educational needs. They offer a range of services aimed at meeting these needs, for example, supporting individual students (through consultation and assessment), special projects and research.

St John's Education Centre
The Centre caters for children from all over Dublin who may be at risk of early school leaving. The Centre runs a five week non-residential counselling and mentoring programme eight times a year.


St Joseph's Adolescent and Family Service
St Joseph’s provides psychotherapeutic programmes for young people with a) severe emotional and behavioural disorders and b) early onset psychoses. St Joseph’s school runs concurrently to these programmes. Criteria for access to the service includes the need for higher levels of care management, staff expertise as well as more detailed and specialised assessment and treatment.


Mater Dei Teen Counselling
Mater Dei Teen Counselling is an 'adolescent friendly' service which aims to enable young people and their parents or carers deal with difficulties, within the context of the family. The young person is always seen as central to the process, not the problem.

Institute of Guidance Counsellors

The IGC is the professional body representing over 1200 guidance practitioners in all education sectors. It promotes standards for entry into the profession and for the practice of guidance and counselling. It supports the professional development of its members through inservice training. It also has an advocacy and liaison role with all the main guidance stakeholders.


Garda Juvenile Liaison Officer

National Behaviour Support Service
The NBSS is currently working with 50 schools identifying, developing and disseminating good practice and assisting with behavioural issues which impede teaching and learning.


National Centre for Guidance in Education

NCGE supports and develops guidance practice in all education sectors and informs the Department's policy on guidance. Through consultation with relevant bodies and government departments, the Centre develops guidance resources, provides opportunities for in-career professional development, informs practitioners of developments in guidance and supports research into guidance practice and needs
.


National Council for Special Education

The Council allocates additional teaching and other resources to support the special education needs of young people with diagnosed disabilities. Special Educational Needs Organisers are responsible for these allocations.


National Education Welfare Board

The NEWB was set up to ensure that every child attends school regularly or otherwise receives an education or participates in training. Educational Welfare Officers work in communities throughout the country acting as advocates or supports to parents, guardians and children experiencing difficulty with school attendance or educational welfare.


National Parents Council Post-Primary

NPCPP works on behalf of parents and children in an advisory and advocacy capacity. The Council collaborates with other agencies in educational committees and runs a Leaving Certificate helpline every August in conjunction with IGC guidance counsellors.

Social Personal and Health Education Support Service (Post-Primary)

The SPHE support service provides inservice training for SPHE teachers, school staff and school management. The service also provides assistance with SPHE policy development, SPHE and WSE/subject inspection, help with resources and are available to speak to parent groups on SPHE.
