GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING AS A PRIORITY MOTION FOR CONGRESS

All guidance counsellors should ensure that the “guidance cut” is kept on the agendas of all TUI branch meetings.

Attend union branch meeting and/or contact branch officer directly by phone. Request Guidance and Counselling tabled as a priority motion for congress. All branches throughout Ireland need to come on board to ensure this action.

The Institute of Guidance Counsellors established in 1968, is the professional body representing over 1200 practitioners in second level schools, third level colleges, adult guidance services, private practice and in other settings.

On behalf of its members and their clients the Institute has a liaison and advocacy role with government departments, management and trade union organisations, national parent bodies, higher and further education institutions, employment and training agencies.

Following recent postal elections the IGC has announced it's President elect, Mr. Gerry Flynn.  Mr. Flynn is a native of Co. Tipperary and is the current Vice President of the organisation.
